Bichrome Pedestal Bowl
Terracotta pedestal and bowl in Bichrome ware, possibly an incense burner or offering stand; hollow, wheel-made stand, tall and relatively narrow, splaying outwards towards the base; two groups of horizontal ridges around the shaft with a third pair of large ones just below the neck; short cylindrical neck painted with file of vertical petals or tongues, possibly imitating metal; the rim of the stand has a square profile; this supports a circular bowl with carinated sides and a flat, everted rim (Swedish Type IV or V), potted separately but attached to the stand; made of buff clay with small white inclusions, decorated in purple and reddish-brown paint: parallel bands along the body, petals/ tongues on the neck, zig-zags on the rim of the stand, triangles on the rim, a broad band inside the rim of the bowl; some chips on the surface of the stand.
