White Slip Wishbone Bowl

Pottery White Slip I ware hemispherical bowl; hand-made; wishbone handle at maximum diameter; thick pale buff slip with traces of burnishing; painted orange to dark brown decoration in fine line style with wavy line and framed running lozenge motif below rim; frontal motif of double wavy lines above running lozenges framed by dotted lines and triple vertical lines; eight pendant sets of double vertical lines to base, alternating longer and more widely spaced sets with shorter and closely spaced sets; the shorter sets have four dots below the rim motif and very fine hatching on the central band; handle with sets of double lines framed by dots; fabric grey; pronounced line of soot and colour change of paint on exterior below maximum diameter, presumably from being stacked during firing.
