Bichrome Lotus Bowl
Pottery deep bowl with pedestal foot; straight-sided body on a thick stem with a spreading foot; two opposing loop-handles; a horizontal ridge divided the bowl in two unevenly-sized registers; buff-cream clay and drab slip, decorated in black and red paint: on the upper register of both sides are panels divided by vertical parallel lines with geometric ornaments (diagonal lines with superimposed concentric circles or semi-circles, diagonal hatching and wavy lines); below is a large stylised lotus flower flanked by multiple chevrons and swastikas; bands on the foot and in the interior of the vase.
