Bichrome Lotus Bowl
Pottery bowl in Bichrome Ware; wheel-made; deep body with straight sides - horizontal moulding above the mid-point of the body - on a moulded pedestal foot; opposing horizontal loop-handles; plain rim. Made of buff clay fired a drab cream colour, decorated in black and red paint: above on each side of the vase are panels defined by groups of vertical parallel lines framing geometrical ornaments (diagonals with superimposed circles, chevrons, and circles); below are elaborate stylised lotus flowers and a concentric lozenge within a panel of vertical parallel lines; bands on the stem and in the interior.
