Bird Shaped Bichrome Askos
Pottery askos or vase in form of bird; hand-made; horizontal ovoid body with central ridge along the back; tubular spout tapering to a trefoil mouth; vertical loop handle from body to rim; tail rendered as simple fan; small schematic wings on each side; three short conical legs, two at the front and one at the back; pink-buff clay and self slip (?); decorated with red and black bands on the body, spout and hand; surface, including the paint, is very worn.
