Small spout with an attached human face, Geometric II Cypriot complex vessel

Geometric II

Small spout with an attached human face

These curved spouts were seen in the later geometric and archaic periods. This one sports a very rare element of having a crudely modeled human face attached to its center. The face is then painted with black slip. Anthropomorphic vessels were a rarity during this period due in part to requiring more labour to produce.
