Cypriot Limestone Head of a Priest or Votary, Ex. Cesnola Collection, circa first half of 5th century B. C. , the subject wears a conical headdress, his face with classic archaic features such as the almond-shaped eyes and a slight smile. The head retains a Cesnola Collection number and is mounted to a turned base numbered "160" and retaining a Sotheby's auction lot sicker. The underside has an early 20th century manuscript label reading Limestone Head 700-600 B. C. Found in temple Golgoi Cyprus From Cesnola Coll. Met, Mus. 5. 57 in. ; with base 8 in. Minor chips with some damage to the left eye; overall, the features remain sharp. Sale Price: $8,500
