Bichrome Red Woman-and-Pitcher Jug

Pottery bichrome red ware woman-and-pitcher jug; elongated oval body on a short, everted foot; concave vertical neck and everted rim; two-ribbed vertical strap brown clay and red slip decorated with black, purple and white paint: black and white bands of horizontal parallel lines of varying width on body; black bands on foot and handle; neck decorated with three birds in black silhouette and tree motifs on each side; part of neck missing and body of vase has been restored in places; Terracotta figure incomplete, missing its neck and head; handmade body covered in red slip; feet shown as two small pellets below hem of dress; right arm (missing) originally extended forward to handle of globular jug with trefoil mouth; surviving parts of left arm, with painted black and purple bands on lower part, supports right side of jug; right hand repaired and restored.
