Bichrome Figural Vase
Pottery stamnos or vase in Bichrome Ware with figural decoration; wheel-made; two upright handles beneath shoulder; buff clay and slip decorated in purple and black paint with horizontal bands framing a figural scene around the shoulder on each side: a large snake, outlined with dots running continuously around its body, facing a tree from which hangs an indeterminate object, also fringed in dots, hanging from the branches; a geometrical motif of triangles framed by bands of vertical parallel lines flanks the central scene; the scene on the opposite side of the vase is very worn.
