Astarte Figurine
Terracotta figurine of a naked female of the 'Astarte' type, possibly a goddess; hand-made with a Base Ring ware-type fabric; schematic anatomical features: exaggerated hips with the pubic area defined by incisions; long legs placed close together fusing at the feet; large breasts, beneath which the hands are held (the digits are indicated with simple incisions); incisions around the neck, possibly indicating jewellery; pinched beak-like face, possibly representing a bird; applied pellet eyes; large exaggerated ears, each pierced twice; two separated moulded earrings on the right ear; the surface has been shaved with a tool along the legs; left foot damaged.
