White Slip Tankard
Pottery White Slip II tankard; hand-made; slightly tapering neck, round mouth; thickened everted rim with flat top and triangular profile; high vertical handle from rim to shoulder; ring base; decorated in dark brown paint with ladder motif at maximum diameter and six pendant ladder motifs on lower body, double framed hatched running lozenges and hatched running lozenges on neck, alternating long and short pendant framed hatched running lozenges between ladder motifs on body; vertical lines and dashes rim and neck interior; vertical lines down handle and a circle with crossed double lines on the underside of the base; matt pale grey slip of variable thickness, desurfaced on one side of body; fabric grey.
