Pottery Base Ring I ware tankard; hand-made; short tapering, slightly concave neck with everted rim with broad concave top; round mouth; vertical strap handle with thumb grip from rim to shoulder; squat ovoid body with wide ring base; decorated with horizontal relief ridge on upper neck and antithetic curves on body opposite handle; thin, mottled reddish brown to black slip burnished to a low lustre; fabric brown with grey core; chip from base and top of thumb grip missing.
