Bichrome Ware Tankard
Pottery tankard in Bichrome Wheelmade ware; wide cylindrical neck with high vertical handle from rim to shoulder; carinated shoulder and low ring base; decorated in thin reddish brown and dark brown paint; on the neck are two pairs of confronted male figures; one pair seem to be shaking hands, one figure of the other pair, who is armed with a mace and a dagger or sword, appears to be attacking the other, who is unarmed; the three unarmed figures are wearing long robes and the attacking figure is wearing a short kilt; vertical wavy and straight lines to one side of the handle; framed double zig-zag band on shoulder; dashes on rim interior; buff self-slipped surface.
