Bichrome Tankard

Pottery tankard in Bichrome Wheelmade ware; wheel-made; everted rim with straight neck widening to shoulder; carinated shoulder with globular body; small ring base; vertical strap handle from rim to shoulder; surface with cream self-slip, burnished vertically on neck, horinzontally on body to a slight lustre; burnishing marks visible; painted decoration in dark red and dark purple paint; ticks on rim; triple zig-zag down handle exterior; neck and shoulder decorated with three sets vertical bands with triple borders of alternating purple-red-purple framing running concentric lozenge pattern opposite handle and vertical triple zig-zags at sides; band at neck-shoulder join; triple horizontal band of purple-red-purple at maximum diameter and below rim.
