Pottery Red Polished ware box (pyxis); hand-made; depressed oval body on a flattened base; oval mouth with small holes on each side midway along; the oval lid, with a single rectangular lug handle, has similar perforations in corresponding posiitions; made of light buff clay covered with a lustrous slip fired orange-red throughout; decorated with incised motifs: concentric rows of semi-circles joined by zig-zags composed of parallel lines on the base and body; on the lid, bands of parallel lines radiating from the lug handle; surface and slip worn in places; minor restoration on the body.
