Standing woman (artemis?), Archaic I Cypriot statue

Standing woman (artemis?)

Standing woman (Artemis?) Statuette of a standing, clad female figure (Artemis?).The facial features with raised eyebrows, smiling lips and round cheeks are carefully reproduced.Hair fringes under the edge of a conical veil. The neck was strongly returned, but you can see a large necklace with elongated, leaf -shaped pearls over the chest. The figure wears a long chitone and a short peplos, the wrinkles are carefully reproduced with shallow grooves.Diagonal straps crossing each other above the chest with a round medallion at their crossing point.A belt looks out under the hem of the Peplos. The breasts are not emphasized. Both arms hang down on the side of the body and record the edge of the wrinkle throw. Two arms and a bracelet on each arm.Short sleeves with thin, sloping grooves. The feet look out under the hem of the chiton. The figure stands on a low, elliptical base. The back is undecored and smoothed with a knife. On each side, a cone protrudes from the shoulder of the figure (both cones are damaged). No traces of painting. The type of this statuette is rather unusual. One could imagine that the piece once belonged to a group of dancers, but the elliptical base and the hanging position of the arms speak against this assumption. The statuette in the 6th century BCChr.a.Bernhard-Walcher and others, the Cypricer Antique Collection in the KHM.Collection catalogs of the KHM Vol. 2, Vienna 1999 (V.
