Jug

Jug: A small, wheel made spouted jug with much of the body and the spout missing. It has an ovoid body, a narrow and short neck with a round, flared rim and a vertical handle from the rim to the shoulder. There is a small round hole on one side of the body and dark clay circle all around it. The jug is of the White Painted III or White Painted IV type according to Catling: matt brown paint along the rim, the base and the top of the neck, three circular brown bands along the belly, two concentrics of four only on onese side of the body by the handle area. There are traces of outline and laddering on the handle. The clay is rather coarse with much grit and buff brown. There are several fragments missing from the main body of the jug.
