Bronze Lamp-stand Top
Top of a bronze lamp-stand made in two pieces: the lower part consists of a cylindrical socket with mouldings at the top and bottom, with a narrower octagonal cylinder above, which has two inverted calices and supports a circular element that fits into the shallow socket of the upper part. The circular element has three tabs inside (one damaged) of uncertain use. The upper part consists of three elongated leaves joined by a ring. A petal is lost from the lower calyx. Remains of the wooden shaft survive in the lower socket. Dimensions: Height: 23.20 centimetres; Width: 11.80 centimetres Object Type: lamp-stand Techniques: cast
