Archaic II
Terracotta Votary Figurine
Terracotta figurine of a woman, probably a votary; hollow, probably mould-made, the back plain apart from an oval hole for assemblage; the woman is standing, frontally, with her right hand held between her breasts, possibly holding an offering; her right hand is by her side; the clothing is indistinct because of the worn condition of the surface, but she appears to be wearing a multi-layered costume consisting of an ankle-length tunic, over which is another knee-length garment; her head was veiled, though this is possibly part of a cloak; the feet extending from under her tunic merge with the low base on which the figure stands; made of orange-buff clay.
