Terracotta Lyre Player Figurine
Terracotta female figure playing lyre and wearing jewellery; hollow, cylindrical body splaying at the base, plain back with applied hand-made details (arms and lyre), mould-made face; the woman stands on a low base, holding her instrument (very schematically rendered) in the left arm and plays with the right hand; triangular face with a pointed nose and almond eyes, fringed in black; her hair, shown in black paint, is swept behind the ears and falls in solid tresses to the shoulder; she wears a long, full-length red tunic (feet just about visible), the short sleeves have black edges; the black paint around her neck seems to represent a necklace, while from her ears hang bulbous pendants; she also wears ear-flaps; made of buff clay with painted decoration.
