Perforated Rhyton Jug
Pottery jug with a perforated base, probably a rhyon or wine-lifter; ovoid-spherical body on a small carinated foot (concave underneath); tall neck tapering inwards; rounded handle arching from shoulder to neck (below mouth); the top part of the neck is slightly inset, and flares outwards; base perforated with 15 small irregularly placed holes made with a sharp implement from the inner surface; made of buff clay with cream-buff slip; decorated with black paint: band of hatched triangles around the body beneath handle, band at junction of body and neck, ladder pattern on handle, solud paint on inset part of neck.
