Painted Horseman Figurine
Painted terracotta figurine of a horse and rider; hand-made; the animal has a cylindrical body with short, fairly thin splaying legs; arching neck and elongated head, with bulging eyes; his tail hangs along his right back leg; the details of the horseman are similarly schematic, with a large head, ears, nose and beard; hair (or cap), eyes and beard are painted; he is stretching back as if to restrain the horse; made of buff clay with red and black painted decoration, with a ladder pattern on the neck and rear quarters of the horse; surface damaged and worn in places.
