Bichrome Ware Krater
Pottery jar in Bichrome ware; wheel-made. Squat body on a flat base; short vertical neck; pair of opposing vertical handles. Made of buff clay decorated in Bichrome technique: purple-brown bands around the body; below the shoulder on both sides is a complex frieze of geometric/floral ornament (very worn on one side): large lozenges flanked by tree-like motifs, filled with chequers and smaller filled lozenges or other motifs; the handles are decorated with a frieze of vertical strokes; horizontal bands on the neck.
