Decorated Shield Boss
Copper alloy shield boss with spike; decorated with lion and bull contest frieze around the perimeter; repoussé work spiral around edge; in centre metal originally rose to form a point which has now broken; some pieces missing; 8 holes, arranged in pairs drilled around the centre of the boss for attachment. Dimensions: Diameter: 31 centimetres maximum ; Height: 21 centimetres; Weight: 500 grammes aprox Object Type: shield-ornament Techniques: repoussé Condition: Fragmentary.
