Ivory Mirror Handle
Ivory mirror handle; comprising a square panel with rounded lower corners and a rectangular profiled handle, tapering slightly towards the base; there is an elongated slot in the top, with two smaller holes either side, and a hole drilled through the short section near the top of the square panel for the attachment of a bronze mirror disc (now missing); carved decoration on both faces; one side depicts a lion attacking a bull, the other depicts a warrior slaying a griffin; the handle is carved with vertical lines and rows of ovals, with a horizontal hatched band at the top.
