White Painted Ware Jug

Pottery jug of White Painted VI ware; hand-made; cylindrical neck with flaring rim with concave inner profile and pointed end; beaked mouth; vertical handle with flattened oval profile from mid neck to shoulder, end inserted through body wall and smoothed; globular body with slightly conves flattened base; decorated with linear motifs in brown paint of variable thickness; horizontal bands on neck; body decorated in two zones; on the upper are three broad vertical hatched bands alternating with three framed double zig-zags and one hatched band, vertical line down handle and on either side; on the lower are two horizontal bands below maximum diameter with five pendant sets of multiple vertical lines to base; pale cream slip, burnished to a medium lustre, vertically on neck and handle; mended from sherds, some areas missing.
