White Painted Tankard
Pottery White Painted VI ware tankard; hand-made; neck tapering slightly to a stepped rim with pointed profile; vertical strap handle from below rim to shoulder; thumb grip at rim; convex biconical body with flat base; reddish brown to black painted decoration; horizontal framed running hatched lozenges on neck, triple zig-zag on upper body and on lower body a thick band with pendant sets of four or five vertical lines to base; fabric buff on surface with pink interior; mended from sherds and partially reconstructed.
